WHO ARE WE?
We are a racially mixed congregation in a fast-growing area of Nashville. We have over 500 present each Sunday. People of all ages and stages of life find a place at Rural Hill.

We have an attended nursery and classes for all ages. Families with children and teens will be drawn to our active youth ministry. (For more info, click the link to the youth website.) Singles, young couples, people in mid-life and seniors are also special to us.

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God. We believe "it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God..." (Ephesians 2:8). We believe that we should strive to have a living, obedient, Biblical faith. We are glad to speak with you personally about other questions of faith and doctrine.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN I VISIT?
First of all, you will not be pressured or purposely embarrassed. We all had a 'first day' at church, and we understand what that is like. We hope that you will find that we are a friendly group. If you have any questions, please ask.

Because of our continuing growth, we offer two morning worship assemblies. The first one begins at 8:15 a.m., the second worship begins at 10:30 a.m.   Promiseland, our Children's Worship time for kids 4-years-old through 11-years-old, is offered concurrently with our a.m. worship assemblies.  We offer Bible classes for all ages from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Most people arrive about ten minutes early. Reserved parking for our guests is located directly in front of the main building, along the retaining wall, beside the church sign.

You will notice that we sing several songs during our worship to God. We project songs onto screens at our morning assemblies. Song books are also available for those wishing to use them. Our song leaders do a great job leading us in worship. Everyone sings as an expression of their genuine love for God. You may sing if you wish, or just listen if you prefer. We do not use instruments in worship. We simply use our voices and our hearts. If you have never experienced this type of worship, you may be surprised at how heartfelt and uplifting it can be! We sing a mixture of traditional and contemporary songs - reflective of the diverse age range and preferences in our congregation.

We pray every time we are together. We offer prayers of praise and thanksgiving, in addition to praying for God's guidance and for healing of the sick. A brother in Christ will lead our thoughts, and we each pray from our hearts to our living, loving God.

Every Sunday we offer the Lord’s Supper (communion). This is a time to specifically focus on Jesus’ death on the cross and the salvation He offers. Every baptized believer is encouraged to partake.

We give a voluntary offering to the Lord each Sunday. This is done by passing a basket down each pew. As our guest you are not expected to give, but you may certainly participate if you wish.

We hear a lesson from God’s Word. The Bible is the foundation of our lives. We read from it every time we are together. The sermons are taken directly from Scripture with a focus on practical application in our daily lives. PowerPoint slides and pictures are often used to enhance our study.

We offer Bible classes on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Classes are available for all ages. All children from birth through 4th grade meet in the main building. Students in grades 7-12 have their own house (the YACK Shack) where they met for Bible study, fellowship, and fun. Our 5th and 6th graders currently have their classes in the YACK Shack, but this will change when our new addition is built (completion expected in 2008).

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Most people wear clothes appropriate for work or school. Some prefer to wear suits or dresses, some are more casual. We accept people as they are. There is no need to dress up to try to be someone that you’re not. Whether you come as a businessperson in a suit, or in jeans, that is fine with us.

FOR THOSE WITH DISABILITIES -
We are striving to be an inclusive church. We have a growing number of families with special-needs children. Many of them are mainstreamed into classes with others their ages, however some parents feel more comfortable keeping their children with them. Although our current auditorium is not as wheelchair friendly as we would like, we are accustomed to, and welcome, people with limited mobility. We also have hearing assisting devices. Reserved parking spaces near the entrance are to encourage your attendance.

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER AT RURAL HILL?
Membership at Rural Hill is open to any baptized believer who is trying to live their life in accordance with God’s Word. If you desire to place membership at Rural Hill you may either speak to one of the elders or ministers, or indicate your desire on a visitor’s card. If you indicate interest on a card you will be contacted within a few days.

Once you indicate your desire to place membership, one of the elders or ministers will speak with you about your baptism. In a world of religious divergence, there are many views held about this important Biblical doctrine. The Bible teaches that baptism is by immersion, and that it is for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, Romans 6:3-4, Galatians 3:26-27). If you were baptized by any other way than immersion, or baptized for any other reason than to have your sins forgiven, we would like to discuss the matter with you. Please be assured that our conversation will be non-threatening.

SIMPLY PUT...We are regular people from all walks of life. We are imperfect. We have strengths and weaknesses. But we love God, and we want to spend eternity with Him. We hope you will join us on this journey. We look forward to meeting you.
